Scouts

Contact: Steven Young (Group Scout Leader)   Telephone: 07769 178718

Our group has a very successful Beaver Colony, Cub Pack and Scout Troop offering fun and engaging activities to 6-14. Year-olds in a varied range of areas. The purpose of the Scouts is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. We are currently trying to recruit more adult support so we can offer our programme to more young people.

Bixley Farm Church is a Church of England church set up in Sep 2018 by the parish of St John's, (Cauldwell Hall Road) and St Andrew's, (Britannia Road). All three congregations are part of the same one church parish and collectively called Mission Ipswich East (MIE). Although unable to hold regular services on Sundays at Tower Hall at present, we hold All Age Messy Church events usually on the second Sunday of the month 3.00-4.30pm. We also have a regular Coffee Space on Friday afternoons 2.00-3.30pm at Tower Hall where people can meet for coffee, tea and chat. Special Friday events are arranged occasionally. We hold other events through the year especially at Christmas, New Year and Easter. You are welcome to all our events which are open to anyone.

Orwell Decorative & Fine Arts Society

Contact: Wendy Robbins   Telephone: 01394 823807 email: wendyrobbinsrobbins@hotmail.co.uk

The Orwell Decorative and Fine Arts Society (ODFAS) was founded in 1999 and is active in the Ipswich area.  We are a small society with about 90 members, but our lack of size is more than compensated for by friendliness and enthusiasm.  Guests are also welcome so do check out our website for further details.

The principal aim of the society is to encourage and promote knowledge and interest in all aspects of the Fine Arts. In this, we follow the goals of The Arts Society (the operating name of NADFAS), of which we are a Member Society.

The society holds monthly afternoon meetings nine times a year (excluding July, August and January), during which we host an illustrated lecture for our members and guests.  Lecture topics, chosen to provide as wide a variety as possible, cover Ceramics, Glass, Paintings, Mosaics, Sculpture, Music, Architecture, Textiles, Jewellery, Furniture, Garden Design, Literature, Theatre and more.  The lectures are given by well-known and renowned experts in their field.  In addition, the society organises regular day trips to notable places of interest in East Anglia and nearby for members and guests.

East Ipswich Camera Club

Contact: Beverley de Boos (Secretary)  email: EICCSecretary@eastipswichcameraclub.co.uk

The East Ipswich Camera Club has been running for 38 years and is a friendly club whose members have a wide range of photographic experience and knowledge.

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings of most months from September to June at the Tower Hall, Broadlands Way, Rushmere St Andrew IP4 5SU (close to the Bixley Farm Centre).  This season we are holding a few of the meetings via Zoom instead of at the hall.

Our programme leans heavily towards competitions within the club, which encourages us to develop our photography.  During the year we also have occasional lectures and discussion evenings to learn how to achieve better pictures.  There are also some social events, which may combine taking photographs at a specific location with a drink or a meal together afterwards.

Membership of East Ipswich Camera Club is open to anyone aged 18 and over and currently costs £55.00 a year.   We will be happy to welcome new members.

So, if you enjoy photography, why not call in and give us a look.  You can come along for a couple for visits, to see if you would like to join, for a guest fee of only £3.00 per evening.  We are an easy-going bunch, and you will be made to feel most welcome.  There is plenty of free car parking close to the Tower Hall.
