How do I book a hall?

Please email the booking secretary with the following information:-

  • Hall required - Tower or Village
  • Date(s) required
  • Time of day required
  • Length of hire
  • Type of function

Can we have a Barbecue at the hall?

No, barbecues are not permitted due to the fire risk.

Can I or my caterers or entertainers get into the hall early to set up for my event?

Access to the hall will only be possible at the start of the hire period booked.

Does the hire fee include cleaning?

The hire fee does include an element to pay for caretaker cleaning but the hirer is responsible for leaving the hall in a clean and tidy state. For this reason, each event should finish 30 minutes before the end of the hire period to allow for clearing up. A checklist will be provided to assist the hirer.

Can I view the hall before deciding whether to book?

Yes, we can arrange for someone to show you around the hall and it's facilities. To arrange a viewing at either hall, please call the Caretaker Supervisor on 07507 492310.

Can I check if the hall is free before I email?

Yes - select 'Hall Availability' from the main menu         

Do I need to pay a deposit to secure my booking?

For a one-off booking for an event such as a party a £50 non-refundable deposit is required within 14 days of the booking contract being sent to you to secure the booking. The balance is required at least one month before the date of the booking and a damage deposit one week before.

For a regular booking a different type of contract is drawn up and deposits are not normally required.

Do you have tables and chairs for use at my event?

Yes - we have tables and chairs for your use and can seat up to 80 people at Village Hall and 100 people at Tower Hall.

Can I have a bar at my party/event?

Yes. Both halls are licensed for entertainment, but do not have a performing rights licence. You are free to serve alcohol in the halls as long as it is not actually sold on the premises as we do not have a licence to sell alcohol. Alternatively, if you choose to use a mobile bar service, they can obtain a temporary bar licence and provide this service for you. We do not have a specific bar service which we recommend. The bar will close 15 minutes before the end of your party/event, 45 minutes before the end of the hire period booked.

Can alcohol be consumed at my party/event?

You are welcome to provide alcoholic drinks to your guests free of charge but not to sell. Guests may also provide their own. Drinks should not be provided or consumed once the party/event has finished 30 minutes before the end of the hire period booked.

Can I use outside caterers?

Yes, you are welcome to use outside caterers

Can I put up decorations in the hall?

Yes, but only the hooks provided on the walls may be used for banners etc, decorations must not be attached directly to the walls.

Is smoking allowed inside the halls?

No, smoking is not allowed.
